United Methodist Church Mission
Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

United Methodist Church Promise
Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.
United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians. According to our foundational statement of beliefs in The Book of Discipline, we share the following basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities:
Our Christian Beliefs: Word of God
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant Word of God. We receive it, as the revealed will and way of God for our daily living.
Our Christian Beliefs: God
God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.
Our Christian Beliefs: Jesus
We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrate God's redeeming love.
Our Christian Beliefs: The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, it's the Holy Spirit at work.
Our Christian Beliefs: Human Beings
Genesis 1:27 asserts that we've been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create.
Our Christian Beliefs: The Church
The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.
Our Christian Beliefs: Salvation
We believe salvation is available to all mankind. After realizing your sinfulness and need for a Savior, you must believe in Jesus Christ, receive His sacrifice for your sin, and then live a life of devotion to Him. This is not a salvation of works, but of grace. Good works are the result of a genuine faith in Jesus Christ.
Our Christian Beliefs: Sacraments
We believe in two sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion.
Our Christian Beliefs: Resurrection
We believe that just as Christ rose from the dead so will those who belong to him. All mankind will stand in judgment before him, those who received His grace will spend an eternity with Him in glory and those that rejected Him will spend an eternity away from His presence in hell. The choices we make in this life determine our eternal destination.
Our Christian Beliefs: Mission and Ministry of all Christians
We believe that all Christians are called to share their faith with the rest of humanity in order that all might be saved. This is not just a verbal directive, but a ministry of living example. Everything that you say, think, and do should be a living representation of the character of God.
Our Christian Beliefs: God’s Reign
The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
